Staub's enameled cast iron cookware is traditional and a strong material, perfect for low heat cooking. It retains heat better than any material, including stainless steel and aluminum. The equal distribution of heat will eliminate hot spots, allowing you to cook the most delicate dishes.
All Staub products are enameled on the inside and out, including the Black Matte finish. The special black matte enamel interior DOES NOT require seasoning and will not react to acidic foods. Because of the technically advanced properties of this interior, the more you use your Staub cookware, the better it will perform. The oils used and created when cooking will penetrate the pores of the matte enamel and create a natural, smooth non-stick surface.
Each piece of Staub cookware has been personally designed by Mr. Francis Staub and individually crafted in a sand mould. The moulds are destroyed after each use, ensuring that your piece is a one-of-a-kind creation. Some irregularities may appear because of their traditional and hand-crafted manufacturing process but they will not affect the performance of your pots in any way.
Staub's signature piece La Cocotte is a cast iron stewpot so innovative that fine chefs around the world use it for consistency and dependability. The underside of its tight fitting lid is covered in spikes to ensure continuous, natural basting. This self-basting process guarantees equal distribution of the flavourful juices directly back on the food, not just down the sides. La Cocotte self-basting is a perfect way to prepare oven cooked rice by going from stovetop, to oven, right to the table.
Recomendations for Care: Staub's enameled cast iron cookware can be cleaned with a normal liquid detergent and sponge. Rinse in hot water. Wipe your Staub cookware thoroughly dry with a cloth before putting it away. Avoid over-abrasive products like metal sponges and heavy use of the dishwater. Staubs cookware has been manufactured with loving care and should be handled gently.
